Meet The Team

Focus Real Estate Property Management is owned by Joe Phillips and William “Biff” Brett, two Central Park residents. We have owned and managed rental properties in our own portfolios for ourselves and for our investment partners for roughly 18 years. Through those experiences we’ve learned a lot about the pros and cons of investing in residential real estate. It’s taught us that it’s a lot of work at times, but it’s also proven to be a great wealth builder.

We’re now excited to offer professional property management services to others with the goal of providing them an “easy button” that allows them to preserve and grow their wealth through rental property investments. It’s a great complementary business that meshes well with our brokerage business where we help people buy and sell homes.

Joe Phillips, a transplant from New Mexico who has now called Denver home for ~20 years, has been all in on real estate for over 15 years. Initially becoming interested in real estate through his experiences as a Commercial Lender, Joe then pursued real estate full time. He focused on the Central Park neighborhood, built up a strong business based on referrals and adding value to the community through a neighborhood blog called the Central Park Scoop (link to the Scoop). He’s now excited to be adding this additional service of property management to the same community.

When not working, Joe enjoys his time with his wife Mandi and their three adventurous & athletic daughters Emme, Tatum and Sloane. He is a mediocre high 90’s golfer whose claim to fame is he once shot a 78. He and Biff also enjoy owning and operating Progress Coworking (link to Progress) together, a neighborhood coworking space near the Stanley Marketplace in NW Aurora.

After attending college in Indiana, Biff moved to Denver and has loved living here for the last 20 years. Biff has invested in and managed residential real estate for over 15 years, which provides him with tons of experience that he can leverage to help our property management clients. Biff's background is in business and software, making him the perfect fit to build and execute systems that result in well-informed, happy owners and tenants. Outside of work Biff enjoys time with his wife and two young kids, playing golf and mountain biking.

Laura Willius

Property Manager

Laura Willius, a native Minnesotan, has lived in Denver for over 25 years. She and her husband, Jeremy, built their home in Central Park in 2003 and have spent 20 years raising their three children and developing deep roots in the community. Before joining the Focus team, Laura helped keep folks on the road while running operations at a neighborhood auto shop. Laura’s primary role at Focus is building relationships with local landlords who want high quality property management. When not working, Laura enjoys cheering on her teenage daughter at volleyball tournaments or traveling to the East and West Coast to visit her college-age children.

Kathy Kesteloot, After leaving her Midwest roots behind, Kathy Kesteloot settled in the Eastbridge section of Central Park ten years ago and has been enjoying Denver ever since! As Tenant Coordinator for Focus Real Estate, Kathy leverages her high attention to detail and customer service skills to ensure our Focus tenants are always informed and comfortable in their homes. When not working, Kathy loves spending time with her husband and teenage son, hiking, cooking, reading and exploring all that Colorado has to offer.

Stephanie Airman, Stephanie moved to Denver in 2000 from her hometown of Miami. With an extensive career in hospitality/restaurant management, Stephanie joined Focus in 2021 in the role of Property Marketing & Maintenance Coordinator. Her keen eye to detail, organizational skills and outgoing nature make her a perfect fit for marketing and maintaining homes for our owners. Stephanie enjoys adventuring with her son Blake in the beauty Colorado has to offer, hosting dinner parties for friends and traveling the world.
